The gourd is carved so that it appears that the grass flows in and out of the holes that have been carved into the body of the gourd/ it is dyed with leather dye and numerous layers of metallic ink dyes/ the inside has hardened beeswax for extra stability and it is lined with mulberry paper/ it is embellished with metal dragonflies.
